Old Maid or Blessed Child

The wedding season continues. I love so many things about the South: the weather, the accents, the people, and there is nothing better than a good southern wedding. However I am not a huge fan of the idea that if you are not married at the age of 25 there is something inherently wrong with you. Now the wonderful people of the south would never say this to your face but they do say things like this..."He's out there somewhere" or "Don't worry I'm sure it will happen for you someday". If you can imagine, when women that I barely know or know really well say this to me I want to kick them in the shins. Here's why.

I would 100% rather be single and feel like I am doing what the Lord is asking of me right now than be in a marriage that he has not called me to. My worth is not found in a man. My worth, my identity, is found in Jesus. Let's say that the Lord has called me to live life single. I am secure in that because I know that His way is better than mine. I am content and can't wait to experience all of the things the Lord has in store for my life.

So for the question "Am I an old maid or a blessed child?" My answer is blessed child. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

Disclaimer: This soap box stems from my students telling me that I need to get a boyfriend because my "clock is ticking"......

the bachelor + scripture = revelation

So I love it when I watch trashy t.v. or movies and the J man speaks to my heart. This past week was the finale of the bachelor and to make a long story short he (the bachelor Jason) ended up being very very shady. He didn't give direct answers, kept apologizing, and was really just obnoxious. All that to say he wanted so badly not to hurt anyone's feelings that he just ended up hurting them more than he would have if he had been straight forward and direct. I was reading in Ephesians, and in chapter 4 verse 15 it says ..."Rather, speaking the TRUTH IN LOVE we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ"
I never want to be a person that is so afraid of hurting someone that I hurt them more by not speaking the TRUTH to them. I don't want to be passive and I don't want to miss out on blessings of the Father because I have a "hardened heart" vs. 18. "They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart."

So help me Jesus, speak Truth and Life into the people around me. Not partial truth but your Truth.

Oh Webster....

I have a new love in my life. His name is Webster and I love his work, so honest and straight forward. I am going through random books of the B.I.B.L.E with a friend named Kelsey. She is 19 and loves Jesus way more than I did at 19 and I respect her. It is good for me because it encourages me to be a better "elder" for her and others. Because I am old and turning a quarter of a century. (that is a whole other post in itself)

James 4:7 says "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
How many times have I heard this? Approximately 400,573 times. The difference this time is that I was using my dear love Webster to get the truth out of words I have heard thousands of times.
Submit- to commit to the discretion or decision of another.
Resist- to FIGHT against

So this verse that I have heard so many times before finally makes sense to my heart. He is not saying stay away from evil... avoid it at all costs, run far far away. He is saying stand up and FIGHT against the schemes of the enemy and commit and TRUST your whole life and everything in it to Jesus. Knowing that His decision and plan is better than anything we could hope or imagine. THEN you will come near to God and He will come near to you. (vs. 8)

That's all...
p.s. Lyd I hope you enjoy the new colors since you told me I was boring! and the shout outs.
